State Farm is standing alongside its pitchman, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, even as the insurance company has pulled out of running its ads.

Over the summer, when asked if he had been vaccinated against COVID-19, Rodgers replied that he was “immune.” Last week Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19, and it appeared he was not vaccinated. He then appeared on The Pat McAfee Show, claiming to be a victim of the “wide awake crowd” and sharing several misinformation about the virus and the vaccine. Rodgers also cited Martin Luther King Jr. to support his position and revealed that he was receiving medical advice from podcaster Joe Rogan.

Following her remarks, Wisconsin-based healthcare company Prevea Health ended its partnership with Rodgers on Saturday, saying it supports protecting people with vaccines. In a statement to United States today On Monday, State Farm said Rodgers has been “an excellent ambassador for our company for much of the past decade,” and while they “do not endorse some of the statements he has made … we respect his right to to have his personal point of view. ” The insurance giant said it “encourages vaccinations”, but respects “the right of everyone to make a choice according to their personal situation”.

Still, State Farm reduced the number of ads featuring Rodgers that aired over the weekend – Apex Marketing Group reported that just 1.5% of the company’s ads on Sunday showed Rodgers, compared to 25% two previous Sundays.
