Topper Tanishka NEET 2022: Tanishka from Rajasthan is the first OBC-NCL (Read: OBC-Non Creamy Layer) category candidate to pass the 2022 National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET-UG) nationwide. The holder of All India Rank (AIR) 1 chose to study medicine because it is a profession where one can establish oneself by “helping others”. She scored 98.6% in her class 12 exams and 96.4% in class 10.
Tanishka not only excelled in NEET but also performed well in the main Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) in which she scored an impressive 99.50 percentile.
Although Tanishka scored the same as three other contestants this year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) did not jointly award first place to all four. The testing agency instead rolled out its new tie-breaking policy to award first place to Tanishka of Rajasthan followed by second place to Vatsa Ashish Batra of Delhi, third position to Hrishikesh Nagbhushan Gangule and AIR 4 to Rucha Pawashe of Karnataka. Among the top 50 holders of the NEET 2022 ranking, 16 are candidates.
Tanishka’s parents are public school teachers, and this was the best Teacher’s Day gift she could have given them. She said her parents were a pillar of support and were always in her corner even when she scored relatively lower on tests. “They never pressured me and always motivated me,” she said.
The topper believes in perseverance and devoted six to seven hours a day to self-study. According to her, every NEET aspirant should prepare for the goal from day one, not at the last minute. “As the course progresses in class, you will have to revise the previous studies again and again. You can take little notes per topic,” she said. She also added that you should never be shy about asking questions.
Tanishka is now aiming to pursue MBBS from Delhi AIIMS and wants to specialize in Cardio, Neuro or Oncology.
